Learn to Swim Coordinator Required

We are looking to appoint a Swimming Coordinator/Manager to oversee the smooth running of our Learn to Swim and Academy swimming lessons.

The lessons currently take place on Friday evenings from 7.15 pm to 8.15 pm and a Sunday afternoon from 3.30pm to 6.15 pm. These hours may return to Thursdays 7.00pm to 8.00pm and Friday 7.00pm to 8.30pm once the COVID restrictions ease.

The ideal individual will currently be working in a similar role or will be an experienced swimming teacher looking to take the next step into their career to a management position.

The legal requirements, to be able to manage the smooth running of the pool, means that the suitable candidate must hold a Swim England Level 2 Teaching qualification, be willing to undertake a DBS and pool rescue test, as well as an affiliation membership to either Swim England (IoS) or an appointed equivalent.

The role of the job is to oversee the smooth running of the swimming lessons, ensuring that all risk assessments are adhered to, whilst working with a great team of highly motivated teachers in line with Swim England assessment/badge schemes.

The time commitment is 3 to 4 hours per week and duties include:-

  • Coordinating the teaching programme
  • Encourage all teachers and helpers to obtain a Swim England Teaching certificate
  • To ensure there is adequate provision for the teaching programme
  • To control the ratio of pupils to teachers
  • Be aware and understand the facility emergency action plan and normal operating procedures
  • To follow and promote Swim England Child Protection Policy (WavePower)
  • To write a yearly report for the AGM

A strong understanding of running smooth lessons within a private swim school would be advantageous along with a great, bubbly personality and good communication skills.

We pride ourselves on swimmer progression, offering a pathway to our competitive side of the club, thus ensuring that every child is given the individual attention they deserve to fulfil their swimming aspirations.

Sound knowledge of COVID guidelines and requirements is also a key aspect of the role so that we can ensure that everyone from staff, children and parents can experience the swim school feeling COVID safe.

Salary to be negotiated.
