Coronavirus Committee Update
There is no doubt that we are in uncertain times with ever changing Coronavirus guidance and the club would firstly thank you all for the continued support you have shown as we work through this difficult time.
As always, our first priority must be the safety and well being of our swimmers, coaches, volunteers and their respective families, and whilst swimming itself is more protected due to the chlorine levels in the pool, social distancing proves our biggest challenge.
With that in mind, and as the result of Swim England’s latest guidance, we have decided to make the following changes:
Learn to Swim
We are finishing this term’s sessions with immediate effect; there will be no lessons this week or next. This does also mean that we will unfortunately have to cancel Friday’s planned new member Time Trials. In addition, we are delaying the start date of next term’s sessions. We will send you a separate email with full details of the Learn to Swim changes.
We are cancelling both the Friday and Sunday night land training sessions with immediate effect.
Squad sessions will continue, albeit with changes to timetables and increased social distancing measures put in place. We will send you a separate email with full details of changes to the squads.
Please note these are not decisions that we have taken lightly and we appreciate they will be disappointing to many but it is important that now, more than ever that we work together as Maidstone Swimming Club to weather this storm.
As mentioned above, the new member Learn to Swim Trial Night on Friday 20 March has been cancelled.
The second in our series of 50m Time Trials (Breaststroke & Freestyle) on Friday 27 March has also unfortunately been cancelled.
So far, we have received confirmation that the following open meets and championships have been cancelled. We will update you if we hear anything further on any future meets we have entered. All relevant swimmers have been notified and further details with regard to refunds will be sent out as soon as they become available.
