Top Spot at Beachfield 6th Learn to Swim Invitational Gala
On 28 September 2019, Maidstone competed in Beachfield’s 6th Learn to Swim Invitational Gala. The gala was designed to bring local SwimMark Learn to swim clubs together, in the spirit of fun and friendly competition, and for the children to show off their abilities and what they have learnt to date to their friends and family. Races consisted of 25m individuals and team relays.
Maidstone went with a team of 16 girls and 13 boys who all swam with gusto and determination. Their camaraderie and team support of each other was first class. The behaviour of the children was brilliant and their parents should be very proud. Out of 6 teams: Beachfield, Faversham, Tonbridge, Sittingbourne and Gravesend, Maidstone came home with the first place trophy which will take pride of place in our trophy cabinet. All the swimmers were also given a medal each.
I would like to thank Beachfield Swimming Club for a great gala and my team of helpers: Lisa Booth, Tracey Quiller, Rachelle Allistone, Rachel Gomer and Hope Paice, without whom I would have been a nervous wreck.
Thank you to the parents for their continued support and for cheering the children on, and lastly the children that swam their absolute hearts out and behaved so impeccably: Emily Ferris, Catalina Villanueva, Isobelle Coulter, Derin Ademefun, Spoorthi Udupa, Lola Swan, Scarlett Brown, Olivia Quiller, Eryka Majewska, Martha Rawstorne, Carmen Jenkins, Abby Knowles, Willow Bessant, Hannah Wilkinson, Gabriella Austen, Emilia Narkevic, Joe Sloan, Leo Malyon, Lanre Dada, Olly Messer, Alfie Gomer, Luis Austen, Jasper Allistone, George Stanley, Danil Vasylev, Harrison Knight, Luke Outram, Edmund Zverovitch and Charlie Smissen.
Our competitive squads and Learn to Swim section are continuously striving to teach and coach to the best standards possible, and it’s great when results like this show all the hard work the teachers, coaches and children put in.
